Miniature Japanese aerophone

The Japanese magazine, Science for Adults (Otonanokagaku), has some absolutely astonishing musical instrument kits including this miniature pipe organ.

Songs are programmed into a paper card which controls the organ’s airflow as it is fed through the instrument. Extra punch cards can be downloaded and printed here and a video of “Amazing Grace” is watchable here.

I tried to order a kit from the Japanese magazine site but was unable to get thru all the language barriers. Is there another way to find and order one of these nifty little things?

James, I would probably pay a Japanese friend to order it for me or email the magazine with a Google translated English to Japanese inquiry. It’s worth it! Send pics!

I really can’t stand the sound of this thing, it makes my head hurt!

Yup, it’s a pretty uncomfortable sound isn’t it.
